Independent affiliate pilot

A private U of T connection, thoughtfully hosted by STEP.

A private STEP space where verified University of Toronto students, recent graduates and alumni supervisors can connect around the transition into psychotherapy practice.

Pilot access

Free

Affiliate pilot access currently has no charge. It is separate from STEP's paid general memberships and does not change their benefits or prices.

  • Affiliation-verified access
  • Private role-based community
  • Private alumni supervisor directory

Who can apply

Three roles, with the right boundaries for each.

Affiliation approval confirms eligibility for this pilot. Alumni supervisors also complete STEP's normal professional review before they can appear in a directory; university affiliation alone is not a professional credential.

01

Current student

Join the private peer community and connect with relevant alumni supervisors after affiliation review.

02

Recent graduate or alumni therapist

Stay connected to peers, program-specific conversations and practical transition support.

03

Alumni supervisor

Participate in the supervisor community and, after STEP professional review, appear in the private alumni directory.

How it works

Verification before access.

  1. 1

    Choose your role and program

Tell STEP whether you are a current student, alumni therapist or alumni supervisor and select the relevant participating program.

  2. 2

    Verify your affiliation

Use an eligible institutional or alumni email. If you no longer have one, request a manual STEP review instead.

  3. 3

    STEP reviews the request

Your account stays in a clear review state until affiliation is confirmed. A rejected request remains available for reconsideration.

  4. 4

    Enter the private space

Approved members see only the community and directory areas appropriate to their role.

What STEP keeps private

  • Student and graduate member identities
  • Community conversations and group details
  • Requests made to alumni supervisors
  • Affiliation information used for review

The pilot does not request academic transcripts. STEP collects only the information needed for the affiliation review.

Cross-border practice resource

Alumni therapists and supervisors can consult the CRPO Cross-Border Therapy Tool when thinking about jurisdictional questions. STEP does not replace regulatory or legal guidance.
